    Feeling Poorly

Bismarck's Mom: Sorry we haven't posted in so long, Bismarck has been feeling a little under the weather. These are his symptoms, not every day, but it seemed like every other day, within 2 hrs of when Bismarck would eat, he would throw everything up and this went on for a couple of weeks so I took him to the vet two Fridays ago, they gave barium and took a bunch of x-rays all day. They said he was having slow intake from his stomach to his intestine, but the x-ray didn't show a blockage or anything so they don't know why. He is on prescription food and Pepcid AC for a while to see if that helps. He doesn't throw up with the prescription food, but if he has anything else, treat other food, etc., he will throw it up so I don't know what is wrong with him. He acts fine, his energy level seems to be the same, the only time you know he isn't feeling good is when he throws up. If he doesn't get better, they said the only options I have is exploratory surgery or send him to a specialist to have a scope test. I will definitely take him to the specialist, if that is what needs to be done, I would think that would be easier on him than surgery. I'm really worried about him. I will be calling the vet back today to check in with them about how he is doing. Please keep my baby in your thoughts and if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I would really appreciate hearing them.

    Poor little man.

My parents Boston, Piggy, gets the same sort of thing. He was switched to a canned dog food from the vet that is very easy on his stomach. I could get the name if you are interested.

It ended up that the reason piggy would throw up his food so much was that he was allergic to dust mites and the itchiness would make his whole body uncomfortable. His insides would even get swollen and he'd get very sick because of his allergies. So the problem wasn't even his stomach -- it was the dust mites.

He gets a pill every other day and a shot twice a month to keep his allergies under control. He can't eat many treats at all b/c they will still upset his stomach.

I know bostons are notorious for having bad allergies. So perhaps this might be something to bring up with your vet. He may not need surgery -- if the sickness was brought on by allergies they could do a test to find out what he is allergic to exactly, and perhaps that would stop the upset stomach stuff.

Just a thought -- good luck Bismarck -- we love you buddy!

We are so sorry to hear you are feeling poorly. Waylon has stages of throwing up for no reason, then he is fine. I think it is allergies. He has them and right now - they are bad.
I wish I had some advice for you.. our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sorry to hear Bismark is not feeling well. That throwing up stuff is no fun at all. I hope the vet can figure out what's wrong with him soon and he won't have to have surgery. Let Bismark know I'll be thinking about him and hope he gets well soon!
